About us
Never ending beauty of picturesque Tista, Raidak, Torsha, Jaldhaka, Kaljani and their innumerable tributaries trotting and rolling down from the pictorial Eastern Himalayas represents a mesmerizing tourist destination-The Dooars or the Duars. The word Dooars or Duars originated from the word “Duar” in Hindi and “Door” in English meaning and signifying the gateway or entry point to Bhutan and the North East India. Dooars can also be called as the gateway to the queen of hills Darjeeling and Sikkim region. It lies in the foothills of the Himalayas and has abundant natural beauty, where streams mature into rivers and flow across the green carpet of Tea Gardens. The vast rising and falling plain is famous for its forests, wild life, multiplicity of ethnic groups and natural scenic beauty. The Dooars is a large region and is scattered with many towns and cities. Among many other major towns and cities, Alipurduar occupies a place of prominent significance in this region.
